EGYPT : CAIRO – NILE CRUISE – LUXOR – 7 N / 8 DAYS

 DAY 1: ARRIVE CAIRO- SOUND & LIGHT SHOW AT THE PYRAMIDS IN CAIRO                

 Welcome to Egypt – the Land of the Pharaohs. Onarrival at Cairo International airport, you will bemet by our local representative, who will welcomeyou and transfer you to your hotel for check-in.Later this evening, experience the spectacularSound and Light Show at the Giza Pyramids ofKhufu, Khafre and Menkaure and enjoy the historyof the ancient Egyptians. The show begins withthe story of the Sphinx who has been the vigilantguardian of the Pyramids for five thousand years.

DAY 2: DAY TRIP TO ALEXANDRIA WITH GUIDED CITY TOUR             

 Today, we drive to Alexandria. On arrival weproceed on a guided city tour of Alexandria.

Visit Pompeii’s Pillar, constructed in honor of theEmperor Diocletian at the end of 4th century AD.

Then proceed to Qaitbay Citadel which was builton the eastern point of the Pharos Island. It was

erected on the exact site of the famous Lighthouseof Alexandria, which was one of the Seven Wonders

of the Ancient World. After visiting the Library ofAlexandria, we start our return journey to Cairo.

DAY 3: GUIDED CITY TOUR OF CAIROVISIT THE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM

INCLUDING ENTRANCE TOMUMMY ROOM-VISIT THE KHAN EL KHALILI BAZAR

 Today, we take you on a guided city tour ofCairo. See the Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre andMenkaure. Also see the Sphinx, carved from thenatural bedrock at the bottom of the causewayto Khafre’s pyramid. We then visit the PapyrusInstitute and see beautiful paintings being made.

Next, we visit the Egyptian Museum, whichhouses over 100, 000 antiquities from everyperiod of ancient Egyptian history. Do not missthe gallery featuring the famous treasures ofTutankhamun. Later, proceed to the medievalBazaars of Khan-El-Khalili where you can shop forspices, precious stones and curios.

DAY 4: FLY TO ASWANGUIDED CITY TOUR OF ASWAN – WELCOME ABOARD THE NILE CRUISE

 After breakfast, we check-out of the hotel anddrive to airport for our flight to Aswan. On arrivalin Aswan, we proceed to the city of Aswan to visitthe High Dam of Aswan, the pride of Egypt and anideal spot for a panoramic view of Aswan. This iswhere Egypt ends and Nubia begins. We then takeyou to see the Unfinished Obelisk. This Obeliskwas never detached from the rock as it developedcracks in several places. Later, we return to Aswanand board our legendary Nile Cruise for a greatthree day journey on the scenic Nile River.Overnight on board the Nile Cruise.(BF,L,D).

DAY 5: ON CRUISE VISIT TO ABU SIMBEL, TEMPLE OF KOM OMBO         

 After collecting your box breakfast, we proceedto visit Abu Simbel by coach. Abu Simbel hastwo magnificent temples, temple of Ramesses IIand the Temple of Nefertari. The Temples werethreatened by submersion in the Lake Nasser, dueto the construction of the High Dam.During the salvage operation which continueduntil 1968, the two temples were dismantledand raised over 60 meters up on the sandstonecliff where they had been built more than 3,000years before. The alignment of the temple is suchthat twice a year the sun’s rays reach into theinnermost sanctuary to illuminate the statues ofPtah, Amun – Re, Ramesses II and Re- Horakhy.

Next, we visit the famous Temple of KomOmbo.Overlooking the Nile, this unique temple is infact the fusion of two temples, set side by side,with each side having its own gateways andchapels. The left side of the temple is dedicatedto Haroeris, the falcon headed God. The right partof the temple is dedicated to Sobek, the crocodileheaded God and God of Fertility. Return to thecruise for lunch as we sail onwards to Edfu.

DAY 6: ON CRUISE – VISIT EDFU, SAIL TO LUXOR VIA ESNA LOCKTEMPLE OF LUXOR

 Upon arrival into Edfu, we take you on a shoreexcursion to visit the Temple of Edfu. Of all thetemples of ancient Egypt, the one at Edfu is notonly the best preserved, but the second largestafter Karnak. The temple had been totallysubmerged under the desert except for the verytop of the pylon entrance.

The temple is dedicated to Horus and was builtin the Ptolemaic period. This temple is unusualin that it is on the west bank of the river whichwas normally dedicated to the afterlife. Enjoy thesights of the Nile River from the deck, as your NileCruise sails to Luxor via the Esna Lock.On arrival in Luxor, we visit the famous Templeof Luxor. There is magic in the tombs of thegreat Kings with their imposing architecture andmarvelous paintings. Even after over 5,000 years,the paintings retain their original colors and tellthe story of civilization gone by see the gigantic.Overnight on board the Nile Cruise.(BF,L,D).

DAY 7: AT LUXORVALLEY OF THE KINGS, HATSHEPSUT TEMPLE

 Today, we visit the West Bank of Luxor. We proceeddeep into the desert to discover the Valley of Kings.This is the place where generations of pharaohsand nobles were buried in great splendor, housedin crypts cut into the cliffs.

On our return, we take a photo-stop at the Colossiof Memnon. These two giant statues are all thatremain of the mortuary temple of Amenophis III.Next, our excursion takes as to explore Temple ofQueen Hatshepsut, the only woman Pharaoh tohave ruled Egypt. Later, check into your hotel inLuxor.

DAY 8: DEPART LUXOR   

 Today, we drive you to the airport for our flightback home. It’s time to say goodbye to all the new

friends you have made. We hope you take backmany happy memories of your holiday. We would
